Work Plan

The activities undertaken by the ITFSP are detailed in a work plan that is continuously developed to match the participants' priorities for action. The main practical activities are to determine:

  • Products and sustainability issues for which there are shared concerns and where there is scope for co-operation in developing appropriate policy responses.
  • Areas in which practical consumer information is established or is being developed by countries (e.g. where there are labels, searchable lists and other examples of measured product performance parameters in use).
  • What existing product requirements (e.g. for minimum, average or best practice performance) are being adopted into policies in different countries, and might be promoted more widely.
  • Where improved mechanisms for international co-operation would result in better co-ordination, synchrony and effectiveness of consumer information, standards setting or other processes.

And to:

  • Help shape and support international strategies and initiatives that address these issues.
  • Provide information and other resources that support international co-operation and policy development.
  • Promote and develop the Task Force, monitor and report progress, feeding results into the G8, UN Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD) and UN Marrakech Process.
