The UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) provides resources to manage the ITFSP Secretariat through its Market Transformation Programme. The Secretariat facilitates good communications between participants and arranges progress meetings to strengthen and build support for projects started through the Task Force and to appraise progress.

Two meetings have been hosted in the UK and a further meeting is scheduled for 7th & 8th November 2006 in conjunction with the standby power conference "Time for Global Action", hosted by the Australian Greenhouse Office with support from the International Energy Agency and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.

ITFSP Progress Meeting Canberra, Australia, 6th & 7th November 2006
The third ITFSP progress meeting was convened in Canberra, Australia, during the “ International Standby Power Conference - Time for Global Action ”, which was organised by the Australian Greenhouse Office, with support from the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and the International Energy Agency. During the meeting the new Home Entertainments Global Sustainable Network (GSPN) was launched to bring together international networks undertaking work aimed at improved energy consumption standards for TVs and simple and complex digital TV set-top-boxes.

During the main Standby conference Chris Baker, representing Defra and ITFSP, presented a paper entitled “A Time for Global Action”, summarising international standby standards and highlighting the need for greater global co-operation to address policy issues influencing the development of challenging performance standards aimed at reducing energy demand.

A review of the main outcomes from the conference and considerations for policy and decision-makers is outlined in “Order Out Of Chaos - Summary Report of International Standby Power Conference, 6-7 November 2006”.

A progress report, drawing together ITFSP discussions at Canberra and reporting recent Task Force activities and future plans will be available during March 2007.
